NewsLes Liasons Dangereuses - Rehearsals update 09 March 2010
Les Liaisons Dangereuses – Notes from the Producer Rehearsals are well underway. Director, David Bishop, has been rehearsing with the cast twice a week since 25th January for what we hope will be a truly spectacular show. The pressure is on for the cast to learn their lines so that rehearsals run more smoothly without books in hands. This is no mean feat, especially for the 2 leading cast members who appear in most of the scenes and have some fairly lengthy speeches to learn. As with all shows, there is an abundance of double entendres which lead to moments of irrepressible hilarity!
Last week we recorded a soundtrack of the show. Each member of the cast will receive a copy to facilitate line learning while on the hoof. Our thanks go to our sound technician, Matthew Cochrane, for giving up his valuable time for this.
Iona, who is looking after costumes for this performance, and I, spent a very productive day in Glasgow last week. In the morning, we went to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama to look for period furniture and props. We were like children in a sweetie factory! We did find most of the pieces we were looking for so it was a worthwhile venture. One which was only topped by an afternoon visit to the wardrobe department of Scottish Opera! I think the wardrobe mistress there recognised our unabated enthusiasm for the task in hand and left us to it! Before we knew it, we were down to our underwear, trying on some truly exquisite costumes of the period. We won’t have any difficulty providing fabulous, dazzling costumes for all of the cast. An industrious and constructive day, but we did manage to find time for a spot of lunch and a natter!
